Mahua Moitra was dismissed from Lok Sabha

Mahua Moitra, a Trinamool MP, was dismissed from the Lok Sabha on Friday following a discussion on the cash-for-question accusations. She was not permitted to speak in the Lok Sabha during the debate, even though the Trinamool party had requested that she speak on the party’s behalf.

The Trinamool leader read out her prepared remarks outside the Lok Sabha following the vote that supported Mahua Moitra’s expulsion. She restated that it was the behaviour of a kangaroo court and that there was no proof of money. Trinamool MP stated that the ethics committee did not hear from Darshan Hiranandani either.

“Nowhere was there any indication of money or presents found. The charge that I disclosed my credentials was the only basis for the expulsion recommendation. However, there isn’t even a rule in this area, according to Mahua. This House agrees with the Committee’s findings that MP Mahua Moitra behaved immorally and indecently while serving as a member.

Thus, it is inappropriate for her to serve as an MP going forward.” Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla stated. After the ethics committee’s report, which called for Mahua Moitra’s expulsion, was presented on Friday, the West Bengal MP was removed shortly after. The Congress and the Trinamool requested additional time to review the report.

Industrialist Darshan Hiranandani was accused of giving Mahua Moitra money and presents in exchange for a Parliament login that allowed Hiranandani to publish criticism of Gautam Adani and the Adani Group. The first person to file the complaint was lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai. The protest of Jai Anant was conveyed to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

The matter was referred to the ethics committee, which recommended Mahua’s dismissal following their interrogation of Nishikant Dubey, Jai Anant Dehadrai, and Mahua Moitra. She was expelled as the Lok Sabha discussed the ethics committee findings on Friday.

The opposition mobilized around Mahua’s expulsion, with Sonia Gandhi standing by her as she read her statement following her dismissal. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a representative of the Congress Lok Sabha, stated during the debate that it was inhumane to read the extensive report in under two hours.

Mahua has suffered injustice, according to Mamata Banerjee, the supremo of the Trinamool. “I find it incomprehensible that all sides can read a 495-page study in just 30 minutes and then have a discussion about it. I applaud the India-United States alliance; we are all one. Mahua’s cause has the full support of the party.

She represents women and the younger generation and was chosen by the electorate. How democratically they betray! Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, remarked, “They did not allow Mahua to take her own stand.” Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, lodged a complaint against Mahua with Speaker Om Birla of the Lok Sabha.

According to the charges, she asked questions against Adani in the Lok Sabha by accepting gifts and money from Darshan Hiranandani. Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla ordered that the Ethics Committee be notified of the allegation. October 19 Darshan Hiranandani filed an affidavit claiming that he accessed the Parliament website using Moitra’s login credentials.

In media appearances, Mahua acknowledged giving Hiranandani her Parliament login credentials in order to obtain assistance from his office in uploading questions. Moitra claimed that the questions belonged to her and that she never accepted payment for them. Mahua gave a presentation to the ethics committee on November 2.

Mahua Moitra claimed to have been asked intimate questions as she left the ethics panel meeting. November 9 Mahua’s suspension was suggested by the ethics committee report, which was approved. December 8 A debate on the ethics committee report was held in the Lok Sabha. Trinamool MP received a ban.
