One prevalent type of roll is sushi rolls from Japanese cuisine. Sushi rolls typically consist of vinegared rice, various fillings such as seafood, vegetables, and sometimes fruits, all rolled in seaweed known as nori. Another popular variant is spring rolls, originating from Asian cuisines like Chinese and Vietnamese. These rolls are made with a thin dough or rice paper wrapper filled with vegetables, meats, or seafood. They can be served fresh or fried and are commonly accompanied by dipping sauces like sweet chili or peanut sauce.
In Western cuisines, sandwich wraps and burritos represent another form of roll food. These involve ingredients such as meats, cheeses, vegetables, and sauces wrapped in a soft tortilla or flatbread, providing a convenient handheld meal.
Roll offers versatility in flavors, fillings, and presentation, making it a favorite among food enthusiasts. Its variations across cultures showcase the creativity and diversity found in culinary traditions worldwide. Here is some roll recipies:
Egg roll
Ingredients: Chicken eggs-6, Flour-250 g, Onion-2, cut into big pieces, Coriander-1 tsp, Oil paper-6 pieces, Ghee or almond oil for frying, Salt-as needed.
Method: Clean the flour, break 1 egg into the flour and mix it well with flour and salt. Thin with oil and roll it into a round shape. Lightly fry everything one by one with oil or ghee in a pan.
When all the parathas are lightly baked, take one paratha and fry it well in a pan with ghee. Crack an egg on one side of the parota and add salt and heat it again with oil or ghee. Spread onion slices, cumin, coriander powder and roll the lower part of the paratha in oil paper.
Chicken spring roll
Ingredients – Keep 1 chicken drumstick, ½ cup flour, ½ teaspoon salt, white oil and 1 cup water handy for pancakes. Take for filling. 1/2 cup chicken cut into small pieces, boneless, 1 onion, chopped, 1/2 carrot, chopped, 4 beans, chopped, 1/2 cabbage, shredded, 1/2 bean sprouts, 1/2 teaspoon ajinamoto, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons mustard oil, and 1 1 / 2 teaspoons of salt.
Method – Mix salt in the flour and knead the egg. Pour water and make a ball. Take a little batter and spread it round in a non-stick pan and fry the pancake. Now fry onions in hot oil and add meat and vegetables. Add soy sauce and salt after stirring for a while.
Spread the ajinamoto and take down the filling. The side of the pancake that is fried. Roll with the filling in that direction. Wrap the edges of the roll in cornflour water. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the rolls well. If you cut the corners with a knife, two pieces of the roll will come out.
Fish Swiss Roll
Ingredients – Any big fish 500 gms, (Rui or Aar), 5 medium sized potatoes, 6 green chillies, 1 bunch of coriander leaves, 200 gm bread crumbs, 1 chicken egg, ½ inch ginger, 1 big onion, 1 red chilli, 5 Chilli powder, 2 cloves of garlic. White oil, butter and salt.
Method- Boil the fish and remove the bones and chop it. Grind ginger, onion, pepper, red chili, garlic together. Wrap all the batter in the fish seasoned with spices and salt. Heat a little oil and fry the masala fish to make the pura. When it is cold, break an egg and mix it.
Toss boiled potatoes with raw chilli flakes, chopped coriander leaves, butter and salt. Now spread the bread crumbs on the shell. Spread the fish filling evenly on it and spread the potatoes on it. Now gently roll the sand with the roller.
Finally, deep fry the rolls with 1 tablespoon of white oil in a large pan. Place the roll in the center of the oval dish and around it, arrange the chopped onion, cabbage, coriander etc. around the dish. Rolls can be cut conveniently and eaten with salad.
