Mohan Yadav has elected as new CM of Madhya Pradesh
The prolonged suspense regarding the Chief Ministerial position in Madhya Pradesh, which lingered for eight days, has finally ended. Contrary to all expectations, Mohan Yadav has been elected as the new CM of Madhya Pradesh.
K Mohan Yadav’s name was declared during the initial meeting of the BJP legislature party, held at the BJP office in Bhopal, the capital city, in the presence of all three observers. Mohan Yadav serves as the MLA from the Ujjain South constituency.
Notably, in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP secured a resounding majority with 163 seats, while the Congress managed to obtain 66 seats, and the Bharatiya Adivasi Party secured one seat.
Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora will serve as the Deputy CMs of Madhya Pradesh, and Narendra Singh Tomar will take on the role of the Assembly Speaker. At 58 years old, Dr. Mohan Yadav previously held the position of Higher Education Minister in the government under former CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
He was initially elected as the MLA from the Ujjain South seat in 2013 and subsequently re-elected in 2018. In the 2023 Assembly elections, Mohan Yadav triumphed over Chetan Pramnarayan Yadav of the Congress by a margin of 12,941 votes in the Ujjain South Assembly seat.
During the legislative party meeting, Haryana CM and Madhya Pradesh observer Manohar Lal Khattar announced Dr. Mohan Yadav as the new CM. Following his election, Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed the legislative party meeting, stating, “The immense responsibility entrusted to a humble worker like me, I will endeavor to fulfill it dutifully.”

It’s worth noting that in 2002, Shivraj Singh Chauhan took oath as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, serving again in 2008 and 2013. After the defeat in the 2018 assembly elections, Shivraj Singh Chauhan resigned from the CM’s post.
