The Xiaomi 17 series was launched with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship lineup – the Xiaomi 17 series, which includes three models: the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. All the smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, making them some of the most powerful Android devices of 2025. The launch took place at the Beijing National Convention Center during Xiaomi’s annual flagship event.
Xiaomi 17: Compact flagship with powerful specifications
The base model, the Xiaomi 17, comes with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness. On the back, it has a Leica-tuned triple camera system with three 50MP lenses for wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto shots. Running on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, the device supports up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, which balances performance and portability.
Xiaomi 17 Pro: Dual Display Innovation
The Xiaomi 17 Pro carries the same front display as the vanilla model but introduces a secondary 2.7-inch rear display. This additional screen can handle selfies, music controls, notifications, and reminders. The device also packs a 6,300mAh battery for long-lasting use. While the primary cameras are the same, the Pro model improves photography with a 50MP telephoto lens that offers 5x optical zoom, perfect for advanced photography enthusiasts.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Bigger, Brighter, More Powerful
At the top of the lineup is the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a record-breaking 3,500 nits of brightness. Powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and HyperOS 3 software, it offers flagship-grade performance. The Pro Max has a massive 7,500mAh battery, making it the largest in the series. With premium hardware, it is designed for users who are looking for maximum performance.
