Indo-Russian joint venture to unveil design of AC coach at IREE 2025
Kinet Railways will showcase the design concept of its first AC coach during the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025, to be held at the India Pavilion in Delhi next week. This is a major step towards integrating India’s road network with advanced Slumber trains that combine speed, safety and improved passenger amenities.
A global collaboration to invent the results of Kinnet Railway
Formed through a collaboration between leading Russian rolling stock company and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Kinnet Railway Results has been tasked with building 120 Vande Bharat sleeper trains – a total of 1,920 trains. The first prototype is expected to be ready by June 2026. This common venture reflects India’s growing global collaboration in road engineering and high-speed train development.
Indian Railways awards sleeper train contracts to three companies
The Railways Ministry has awarded contracts to BEML, Kinnet Railway Results and a Titagarh Rail System-BHEL institute to build the prestigious Vande Bharat sleeper trains. Each will play a key role in advancing India’s semi-high-speed rail ecosystem. These systems are expected to significantly increase passenger capacity and ensure world-class comfort for late-night travel.
Two Vande Bharat Slumber trains to be launched simultaneously
As a strategic move, the Ministry of Railways is planning to launch two Vande Bharat Slumber trains simultaneously. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has confirmed that both the trains will start service only after the alternative rakes are ready. Built by BEML using ICF technology, the alternative train is expected to be completed by October 15, 2025, with operations to continue from day one.
The launch is expected to change the face of long-distance rail travel
With their imminent debut, the Vande Bharat sleeper trains are all set to take late-night travel to a new level in India. Designed for comfort, speed and efficiency, these trains will offer a blend of luxury and affordability for long-distance passengers. Once both rakes are operational, Indian Railways will finalize the routes and schedules, marking another milestone in India’s transport modernization.
