The actual BLOs will have to be Group C staff, preceptors or advanced configurations to ensure that only trusted officers can handle the crucial roll.
Controversy over BLO immovable property

Reports have revealed that some BLOs were office liaisons of the Trinamool Congress, which has raised initiatives regarding fairness and compliance with ECI guidelines. In several cases, numerous workers have refused to perform the duties of BLOs due to the shortcomings and pressure from political parties. Calcutta High Court and teachers’ concerns
Recently, the Calcutta High Court ruled that BLOs cannot refuse to perform their duties, which will strengthen the authority of the commission. The new rule to cap the number of cell voters at 1,200 will increase the number of cells to about 80,000, further increasing the demand for BLOs. Many academy teachers are nervous that this increase will disrupt classes, but the Election Commission has assured that important tutoring duties will continue along with electoral duties.
SIR process to begin after Lakshmi Puja
The SIR process is scheduled to begin on October 6 after Lakshmi Puja. With the assembly elections likely to be held in April-May, the name list revision is aimed at weeding out delinquency, adding new voters and enhancing transparency. District-level officials have been asked to submit reports on appointment irregularities and strict monitoring is being done to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
