Several schools in Bengaluru received bomb threat emails
After receiving bomb threat emails, several schools in Bengaluru had to evacuate their pupils and staff. Although it’s unclear how many schools specifically received the threat emails, around 15 schools in the tech metropolis reportedly received bomb threats, according to media sources.
Parents hurried to schools in a frenzy to ensure their kids returned home safely as soon as they learned about the tragedy. “The email hinted that there might have been explosives placed on the school grounds. We sent teams to the several schools located across the city as soon as the command center contacted.
All children and staff have been safely evacuated from the school premises, and a thorough search is currently underway, a senior police officer was quoted by the news agency. On the surface, it seems like a prank message, but nothing strange has been found so far. Parents shouldn’t worry since our teams are on the ground, he said.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded to the concerning bomb threats by saying, “Security measures have been taken, and parents need not panic.” In addition, he noted that he has given the police orders to bolster security and check the schools, and he has asked parents to maintain their composure during this time.
“I’ve given the police instructions to look into this, and they will. Since security precautions have been taken, parents don’t need to worry. I’ve given the police orders to tighten security and conduct inspections of the schools. The police department has provided a preliminary report, according to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
In a separate post, Karnataka Dy CM D K Shivakumar reassured parents of students attending Bengaluru schools that there is no reason to be alarmed as the threat emails are a phony call. The cybercrime division will work quickly to address the issue.
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner had first reported that multiple anti-sabotage squads had been dispatched to search the school grounds. He continued by saying that although the bomb threat emails received to multiple local schools appear to be phony calls, every attempt will be taken to track down the culprit.
The Police Commissioner tweeted, “Emails containing ‘bomb threat’ messages were received by several city schools early today.” Our bomb detection squad is working quickly to look into this. So far, the checks seem to indicate that these are fake calls. Nonetheless, every effort will be made to identify the sender of the email.”
Dr. G Parameshwara, the home minister for Karnataka, stated: “We have information about 15 schools where threatening emails have been received; similar threats were received last year as well. We are examining the schools and implementing all necessary safety precautions because we cannot afford to take any chances. Those who make threatening phone calls will face severe consequences from us. We are investigating every angle.”
The schools that received bomb threat emails included Napel, Vidyashilpa in Basaveshwar Nagar, and one next to the deputy chief minister’s house, according to an India Today article. “I was a bit dismayed after seeing the news on TV, as some schools I know and the one near my house were also mentioned,” DK Shivakumar remarked after visiting a Bengaluru school.
I decided to go check. I’ve seen the mail from the cops. It looks to be a scam at first glance. I had a conversation with the police. However, we ought to exercise caution. There’s no need to worry; parents are a bit worried. “Police are investigating it,” he stated.
“Sadashiva Nagar NEV School has been visited and inspected in the wake of receiving bomb threats through e-mails to some schools in Bangalore,” he tweeted later on X. In this instance, the police have been notified of the occurrence and given the go-ahead to carry out a thorough investigation.”
