MG S6 EV Accidentally Revealed in Crash Test

The much-awaited MG S6 EV, set to compete with the Tesla Model Y, has been revealed ahead of its official launch thanks to a Euro NCAP crash test leak. The mid-size electric SUV has achieved the maximum five-star safety rating, a testament to MG’s engineering focus on power, discovery and family protection.

Larger than the MG S5 EV, the S6 is expected to make its global debut in late 2025, with deliveries starting in early 2026.

Bigger, smarter and safer is MG’s new flagship EV

Blurred crash test images have given us our first look at the S6’s bold design. It blends sharp angles with everyday practicality, with a coupe-like silhouette, triangular LED headlights, a sharp front grille and an eye-catching full-width barrier light bar.

Visually, the S6 EV looks like a step up for MG — ultra-modern, aerodynamic and ready to compete with the world’s top electric SUVs.

Inside the MG S6 EV, technology meets comfort

While the Euro NCAP footage emphasizes safety, the cabin cast reveals a sleek, motorist-friendly layout. A digital instrument cluster, a square steering wheel and a large center touchscreen can be expected — likely MG’s 12.8-inch infotainment system, which has a head-up display.

Its convenient interior and ample charging make the S6 EV a good fit for families, long trips and EV buyers looking for comfort without compromise.

Expected specifications Range and power

MG has yet to confirm approved specifications, but persistent interposers say the S6 EV will share a platform with the S5 EV. A 231hp reverse-drive setup is expected, with an optional binary-motor all-wheel-drive variant for extra performance.

A larger 77kWh battery can cover 340 miles, putting the S6 ahead of the Tesla Model Y standard range and confirming its place among the most efficient MG models to date.

Top five-star Euro NCAP safety ranking

Safety is a notable achievement for the S6. Euro NCAP awarded it 92 for adult protection, 85 for child protection and 84 for rambler protection – exceptional results in all orders.

The SUV also scored (78) in active safety systems for advanced features such as lane-keep assist, driver fatigue monitoring, AEB, multiple airbags and adaptive cruise control.

Launch window and pricing

MG plans to fully unveil the S6 EV before the end of 2025, with global deals starting in early 2026. Prices in the UK are expected to start at under £40,000, undercutting the likes of the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

In Australia, the S6 is expected to arrive in mid-2026 and will be priced between $50,000 and $55,000 before on-road costs.

Platform, variants and performance

Built on MG’s Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), the S6 will offer both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive performance. Battery options are expected to include 62.2 kWh and 77kWh packs, with the flagship AWD trim producing up to 269kW.

This modular design means strong range, fast acceleration and improved driver support – ideal for a new generation of EV buyers looking for both value and performance.

Why is the MG S6 EV different?

The accidental debut of the MG S6 EV has further raised the bar. Combining futuristic styling, long-range capability and world-class safety, it represents MG’s expansion from an affordable EV maker to a true global rival to Tesla, Hyundai and BYD.

With its expected price tag and five-star quality credentials, the S6 EV could redefine what buyers expect from an electric SUV in 2026.
