Ola Electric Enters Home Energy Demand with ‘Ola Shakti’
Led by Bhavish Agarwal, Ola Electric has launched Ola Shakti, a domestic Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), marking the company’s expansion into India’s growing energy storage demand. The portable device powers essential appliances and agricultural machinery such as air conditioners, refrigerators and water pumps, signaling Ola’s move beyond sustainable power generation to mobility.

At the launch event, CEO Bhavish Agarwal outlined Ola’s larger clean energy vision. Our focus has always been on making energy storage easier, which is why we call it Ola Electric instead of Ola Machine, he said. Ola Shakti aims to make solar backup, power stability and energy portability accessible to every Indian home and small business.
Powered by 4680 Bharat Cell Technology from Tamil Nadu Gigafactory
Ola Shakti is India’s first fully indigenous BESS built on the advanced 4680 Bharat Cell Technology. Manufactured at Ola’s Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu, these high-performance cells are used in the Ola EV. The modular design of the system enables easy scalability, compact installation and easy storage for both community and pastoral guests.
Ola Shakti Pricing and Storage Details
The system comes in four battery options – 1.5 kWh, 3 kWh, 5.2 kWh and 9.1 kWh – priced at Rs 29,999, Rs 55,999 and Rs 10,000 for the first 10,000 units. Guests can pre-book for Rs 999, with deliveries starting from Makar Sankranti 2026. Ola Shakti promises to provide full-load backup in less than two hours and fast charging services up to 1.5 hours.
Ola sets target of ₹1 lakh crore domestic energy storage demand
With this launch, Ola Electric has entered India’s ₹1 lakh crore energy storage sector, which is expected to triple by 2030. The company expects the phased battery consumption to reach 5 gigawatt hours. Future Agarwal called it “a major change in India’s power consumption”, holding Ola Shakti as an affordable, smart and sustainable energy outcome for every organization.
Designed for rigidity and strength, Ola Shakti supports modular mounding for high power. Its air-cooling system ensures life and enables heavy-duty use for ACs, induction cookers, pumps and telecom setups. The versatile design also serves livestock owners’ homes and communal businesses, redefining the on-demand power responsibility.
Ola Shakti reflects Ola’s broader strategy to scale clean technology innovation beyond vehicles. Ola Electric plans to accelerate battery deployment with minimal new investment, leveraging its Gigafactory and civil distribution. Agarwal added, “Ola Shakti extends our battery moxibustion from the road to the home – making India’s electricity future clean, smart and portable.”
