On Saturday, when the 26/11 Mumbai terror assault marked its 15th anniversary, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis honored the courageous heroes at the Martyrs’ Memorial, which is situated on the grounds of the Police Commissioner’s Office, with flowers.

Also honoring the martyrs at the memorial was Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais. During four days, from November 29 to December 31, 2008, Mumbai experienced the worst terror attack in India’s history. The terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), based in Pakistan, sent ten armed terrorists into Mumbai over the Arabian Sea and proceeded to wreak havoc by launching well-planned strikes in several parts of the Indian metropolis.

These attacks claimed the lives of at least 166 persons, including foreign nationals, police officers, and civilians. Over 300 people sustained injuries as a result of the attacks. Ajmal Amir Qasab, a terrorist, was apprehended while still alive. In 2012, he was executed in Yerwada Jail in Pune.

At the memorial service were a number of Maharashtra ministers, including Deepak Vasant Kesarkar and Mangal Prabhat Lodha. During the 26/11 assaults, a total of 18 security professionals, including members of the elite National Security Guard (NSG) and state police, gave their lives while performing their duties.

“A grateful nation remembers with pain all the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks,” stated President Droupadi Murmu on X. In honoring the memory of the courageous individuals, we stand with their families and loved ones. I honor the brave security guards who gave their life in defense of the nation.

Recalling their ultimate sacrifice, let us reaffirm our commitment to combating terrorism worldwide in all of its manifestations. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, also paid respects by writing, “My heartfelt tributes to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks,” on X, a platform that was once Twitter.

The sacrifice made by security professionals who lost their lives while performing their duties will never be forgotten by the country. It has been fifteen years since the 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai, according to a post by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. We’re still working to hold those accountable for organizing and carrying out these heinous crimes accountable.

In addition to the Taj Hotel, other locations where the attacks happened were the Oberoi Trident, the Leopold Cafe, the Nariman House, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Prahlad Joshi, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, paid tribute to the victims of the horrific 26/11 terror assault in Mumbai.

In India’s history, it was a Black Day, and the relatives of the deceased are still grieving. Thank you to everyone who valiantly resisted the terrorists during the attacks, including the police and security personnel. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s official handle tweeted, “India remembers the 26/11 attacks! We never forget the fallen.

We do not pardon the offenders. We work for a world united against violence in somber remembrance. In his 107th episode of “Mann ki Baat,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the victims of the 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai on Sunday, the 15th anniversary of the atrocity.

The prime minister described the tragedy as the “most dastardly terror attack” and stated, “We can never forget this day, November 26.” The nation has suffered the most heinous act of terror on this exact day.” The entire nation is “remembering our brave men who were martyred” today, he said, paying respect to everyone who perished in the attacks.

“The terror attacks on November 26th deeply affected Mumbai and the whole country. At the ‘Mann ki Baat’ session, PM Modi stated, “But India used its ability to recover from the incident and is now using the same courage to crush terrorism.” S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, commemorated the terror attacks by using X to draw attention to the “horrific acts” that occurred.

According to him, India’s “quest” to prosecute those in charge of the attack’s preparation and implementation is still ongoing. “Today marks 15 years after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai on 26/11/11. His tweet on the microblogging site said, “Our mission to bring those responsible for organizing and carrying out these horrific acts to justice continues.”

Ten terrorists carried out a series of well-known attacks on Mumbai, the nation’s financial hub, on June 26, 2001. These terrorists had infiltrated the city on the evening of November 26, 2008, and they were members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist organization.

They carried out as many as 166 killings and 300 injuries over the course of four days, selecting their attack targets after conducting a study to ensure maximum effect. Targets included the well-known Taj and Oberoi Hotels, the Leopold Cafe, the Jewish center at Nariman House, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus because these locations were visited by Europeans, Jews, and Indians.

The attack at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station resulted in the deaths of nine LeT terrorists and the arrest of the one Pakistani terrorist who survived, Mohammad Ajmal Amir Qasab. Qasab received the death punishment in May 2010 and was put to death in a Pune highest security prison two years later.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais paid floral tributes to the martyrs who gave their lives battling the terrorists of 26/11. Senior police officials were present as they paid their respects at the martyrs’ memorial located on the Police Commissioner’s Office grounds in south Mumbai.
